8 Days Best of Tanzania Wildlife Safari

When you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a Friendly Gorillas representative will greet you and transport you to your hotel in a private car. The rest of the day is yours to do as you want. On the outskirts of Arusha, the Arusha Coffee Lodge is situated on a coffee plantation. The décor is luxuriant and elegant, with undertones of the bygone days of early discovery, and is built in the style of the initial plantation houses but fully redesigned to achieve the highest standards of comfort. Each of the 18 plantation houses has been tastefully decorated and includes a split-level living area as well as a private porch. A coffee shop, patisserie, and swimming pool are also available at the lodge.

Dinner is included in the price.

Arusha Coffee Lodge is where you’ll spend the night.

Move to Arusha Airstrip on Day 2
You will be met and driven to the Arusha airstrip in the early morning for your flight to Tarangire National Park. Your guide will meet you at the airport and move you to Sanctuary Swala in our specially designed open safari vehicle. The drive takes about 30 minutes, with stops for game watching along the way. Each of Sanctuary Swala’s twelve tents is shaded by tall acacia trees and ancient baobabs, and is within sight of the famous waterhole. The canvas pavilions at Sanctuary Swala are unabashedly luxurious, but close enough to nature to allow for an exciting night under the stars. There will be time to relax in the afternoon before your first game drive. Elephants, greater kudu, impala, and zebra herds can all be seen, and leopards lurk in the forest. You are unlikely to see many cars when you head out into the national park due to the camp’s secluded location.

Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are all included.

Day 3: Unwinding
As a steaming hot cup of tea or coffee is served on your tent’s deck, wake up to the sounds of the jungle. You can either sleep in and enjoy your surroundings this morning, or go for an early morning game drive through the park before returning to camp for a relaxing drink and lunch. This afternoon, take a break on your private deck with a refreshing beverage and look out over the waterhole, where you can watch the game congregate in the shade to avoid the sun.

You may want to go on an afternoon game drive in Tarangire as the afternoon progresses. As you step out into the baobab-strewn landscape of Tarangire, the beauty of the park becomes apparent. During the dry season, the Tarangire ecosystem is second only to the Serengeti ecosystem in terms of wildlife concentration. Return to camp for a quick shower before gathering around the campfire for a pre-dinner drink and a recap of the day’s events.

Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are all included.

The Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp is situated on the crater rim in Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Conservation Area. There are ten luxurious safari tents available. Each custom-built walk-in tent is spacious, with an en-suite bathroom, flush toilet, shower, and hot water available all day. A room safe, hair dryer, and mosquito nets are included in each tent. Day 5: Breakfast and departure for Ngorongoro Crater.

A warm cup of tea or coffee will be waiting for you on the veranda of your tent this morning. Following a hearty meal, you can partake in the following activities: Game drives in the Ngorongoro crater and on the rim with an English-speaking driver/guide, as well as a Masai village visit and bush meals. At every turn, the crater wall provides a stunning backdrop for game viewing. Around 30,000 species live in this massive caldera, with a high concentration of predators. Nearly half of the species are zebra and wildebeest, with gazelle, buffalo, hartebeest, warthog, and bull elephants also present. Thousands of flamingos fluttering and shimmering like a pink heat haze can be seen on the lake in the crater’s middle. This afternoon, return to camp in time for a hot shower before pre-dinner drinks around the campfire while you reminisce about the day’s events.

Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are all included.

There are twelve double tents spread around the main kopje for guests to stay in. Each unit has its own private veranda with comfortable furnishings, where your personal tent attendant will bring you tea and coffee so you can relax and enjoy your peaceful surroundings. The main area, which has a wooden deck and offers stunning views of the nearby kopje, houses the dining area, lounge, and library. You have the choice of going on a full-day game drive into the Serengeti with a picnic lunch or staying close to camp with morning and afternoon game drives. Learn how to classify cheetahs using field ID kits and how to track their activity on a cheetah watch drive. Your sighting images will be combined with the location information and submitted to the research center. In exchange, the center will give you a full history of your cheetah, including its family and last sighting. Return to camp this evening and climb to the peak of the kopje for 360-degree views of the Serengeti.
