4 Days Tanzania Wilderness & Crater Lake Safari
The package includes a four-day safari in the Selous game reserve. Pick-up and drop-off in Dar es Salaam Traveling from Dar es Salaam to the Selous game reserve takes 5 hours, where you may enjoy a boat trip, game drive, and walking safari while sleeping in a mid-range tented camp. The Selous Game Reserve has an area of 50,000 square kilometers. The largest protected territory in Africa, and one that has mainly escaped human intervention. The Selous is teeming with hunting dogs. The reserve is also home to a wide variety of species, including Miombo woods.
DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Travel from Dar es Salaam to the Selous Game Reserve
You will be picked up from your Dar es Salaam hotel at 8 a.m. and given a brief summary of the safari before travelling 6 hours to the Selous wildlife reserve. You will eat lunch on the way, check into the camp in the late afternoon, rest briefly, and then travel for an evening boat trip and overnight stay at the African safari camp.
Day 2: Game drive at the Selous Game Reserve
After breakfast, have a game drive inside the park with a picnic lunch and be ready to encounter lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, zebras, hyenas, and other species. There will also be a vast assortment of birds to watch, as well as magnificent landscapes with diverse terrains such as wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia woodland, and higher territory with expansive vistas of distant mountains. After lunch, you will relax before going on a wildlife drive and spending the night at the African safari camp.
Day 3: Selous game reserve game drive and walking safari and transfer to Mikumi National Park.
Go for a morning stroll in the Mikumi area where you may observe elephants, various tree types, birds, and locals, before returning to the camp for breakfast and heading inside the park for a wildlife drive with your packed lunch. Have a game drive after dinner and overnight at the African safari camp to witness lions, bears, hunting dogs, and other wildlife. Be ready to be amazed by the wilderness nature of this park.
Day 4: Dar es Salaam to Selous
After breakfast, take an en-route game drive from the camp with your packed lunches. You have a further great wildlife experience before you then drive 5 hours to Dar es Salaam, arriving late afternoon for your transfer back home.
